In an innovative initiative, a local entrepreneur Ravi Khaling of Namchi in South Sikkim has launched the first ever shopping website to take local products of Sikkim to the international level.
A website ‘www.makeinsikkim.com’ has been launched recently with its motto ‘Service with Social Responsibility’ to take local products of Sikkim across the world and to provide different services to the people of Sikkim in their doorsteps.

Interacting with media in Gangtok recently, he mentioned that this was the first ever shopping website of Sikkim to provide a platform to local entrepreneurs of Sikkim to expand their business in the international level.
He added that the initiative has mainly targeted to support young upcoming StartUps, entrepreneurs and small industries to help them in marketing and to increase their business.
“Make In Sikkim is a wider platform for people of Sikkim and through this initiative local entrepreneurs can reach out to the people in the international and even client will have direct connection with the company,” he said.

Khaling informed that an app will also be launched very soon. He mentioned that more than 100 entrepreneurs have already registered with Make In India within one week of the launched and registration would open for two more months.
He stated that the website would not take any commission and only raise the registration fee. He added that the initiative has given the priority to local entrepreneurs of Sikkim.
“I am also going to Nepal and Bhutan shortly to promote and sale local products of Sikkim,” he said.
Make In Sikkim has seven sectors of its services, which includes food products, flowers, attires and clothes, handicrafts and handlooms made in Sikkim, hotels and restaurant and home stay, taxi service and freelance services in different areas.
Khaling appeals local entrepreneurs of Sikkim to come forward to register with Make in Sikkim to take their business and products to the international level.
