A coffee table book – Birds of Sikkim – published by the Sikkim Ornithological Society (SOS) was released by the Chief Minister (CM) Pawan Chamling at his official residence Mintokgang Samman Bhawan on Wednesday. The coffee table book has 105 pages with a foreword from the Spanish author of Handbook of the Birds of the World, Josep del Hoyo.
The SOS president, Nosang M Limboo, and general secretary, Sonam Paljor Bhutia, were also present during the release function.
The CM congratulated SOS and applauded them for compiling, documenting and covering almost every known living species of birds in the State. Stressing on the need to protect nature and all its elements, he said that the book would serve as a good research material for research scholars. Chamling also promised SOS all help and support in their future projects involving the flora and fauna of the State.
