Finally, the wait is over. Seven Myanmarese nationals, albeit, Rohingyas, lodged in Silchar Central Jail since 2012, were taken out from the prison in Silchar of Barak Valley in Assam on Wednesday morning, at 6:30 am to be deported back to their country, via Manipur through Moreh border connecting India and Myanmar.

Seven of them entered India illegally in 2012 and settled near Nagatilla area on the outskirts of Silchar, but, were picked up that year itself and lodged in Silchar Central Jail to serve their punishment for such an act.

Though their punitive actions have been served a long time back, having been lodged in Silchar Central Jail, all of these pleaded on their own to return back to Myanmar, for which, finally after talks between these two nations resulted in seven of them being deported back to their motherland.

These Myanmarese nationals are Mohammad Sabir Ahmed, Mohammad Inus, Mohammad Jamal, Mohammad Salam, Mohammad Mukbul Khan, Mohammad Rohimuddin, and Mohammad Jamal Hussain.

All the seven are residents of village Keito (Badarpara) under Cheptak Police Station of Faida district of Myanmar, which each one of them, have testified and cross checked too, by Myanmarese officials, before agreeing for their deportation, informed an official on condition of anonymity.

On Wednesday morning under heavy security cover these seven Rohingyas were made to board a Network Travels bus (AS 24 C – 2829) from outside Silchar Central Jail for their onward journey to make them cross over to Myanmar via Jiribam, bordering Assam and Manipur.

Additional SP of Cachar, P V V Rakesh Reddy who himself was monitoring the release as well as escorting this party, while refusing to divulge further details, informed Northeast Now, that the entire matter has been initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
