A large group led by the Karbi Anglong and NC Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee (KANCHASDCOM) has left Assam for Delhi to join a protest demonstration at Ram Lila Maidan on March 29.
The demonstration will be held to pressurise the government over the demand for creation of an autonomous hills State under the Article 244(A)

Supporters from different political parties including the Congress and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and several other organizations will participate in the demonstration.
Before leaving for New Delhi, KANCHASDCOM President Ajit Timung, talking to reporters said, “A joint delegation of the two hill districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao district will be holding a mass demonstration at Ram Lila Maidan in New Delhi on March 29 in support of the demand for an autonomous State under the Article 244 (A) of the Constitution of India comprising two hill districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao district.”
Timung informed that the organisations taking part in the mass demonstration are KANCHASDCOM, Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), Karbi So-arlo Amei, Karbi Riso Adorbar, Karbi Unemployed Youth Association, Joint Action for Autonomous State and Karbi Longri and NC Hills Liberation Front, Karbi Lammet Amei-Karbi literary body, Karbi Cultural Society, BJP and Congress workers. Around 3000 activists will participate in the demonstration, Timung informed.

General Secretary of Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KADCC), Bidyasing Rongpi has appreciated KANCHASDCOM for organising the programme for a common cause.
Rongpi said, “I have expressed my thanks to KANCHASDCOM President Ajit Timung for organising the demonstration to be joined by different political parties and organisations for a common cause. More than 150 Congress workers are participating in the demonstration.”
Dimasa Students’ Union, All Dimasa Students Union, Dimasa Mothers’ Association and Dimasa Women Society from Dima Hasoa are also joining the demonstration.
