Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri on Monday inaugurated a drinking water project Amrit Dhara at Dibrugarh Bengali High school here.

The drinking water project was donated by Jyoti Lalita Kanoi foundation in association with Marwari Yuva Manch, Pragati Sakha in Dibrugarh.

“It’s a noble step and the RO filtered drinking water facilities will fulfil the students need to drink safe clean water. I thanked the Jyoti Lalita Kanoi foundation and the Marwari Yuva Manch, Pragati Sakha, Dibrugarh for the installation of the project,” Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri said.

DC Madduri appealed the people of Dibrugarh to participate wholeheartedly in the champion of Swachh Bharat to make the campaign a success in Dibrugarh.

Jyoti Prasad Kanoi, Chairman of Jyoti Lalita Kanoi foundation said, “Safe drinking water is a fundamental necessity for everyone and the installation of the RO filtered drinking water facilities across the campus will fulfil the need of safe drinking water and the students will avail the water in 24 hours,”.

Dibrugarh Bengali High school was established in 1918 and this year the school is celebrating Centenary.

Kanoi added the main objective of the Jyoti Lalita foundation is to contribute towards the development of student facilities and infrastructure to support the growth of education in the state of Assam, more particularly in Dibrugarh.

Last year, Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation installed three water projects at D.H.S. Kanoi College, M.D.K. Girls College and D.H.S. Kanoi Law College.
