Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday announced a financial aid of Rs one lakh for the treatment of former President of Asom Sahitya Sabha, Rong Bong Terang, who has been ill for quite some time now.
The financial aid is being given from the chief minister’s relief fund on Friday.
Chief Minister Sonowal also prayed for early recovery of health of the renowned litterateur.
Creator of the iconic ‘Rongmilir Hahi’, terong is not keeping well for quite some time now owing to old age related health ailments.
A Padma Shree winner, Terong held the prestigious post of the literary apex body of the State, Asom Sahitya Sabha for two terms when it was at its helm of glory.
Beginning his career as an Assamese language teacher in Diphu Government Boy High School, Terong later joined the Diphu Government College as an Assamese lecturer.
He took charge of the college as principal-in-charge on April 1, 2000 and retired on November 30, 2002.
