Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju on Saturday said that the diet budget will be increased to bring parity between athletes in all Sports Authority of India (SAI) training centres.
The current diet budget for was of different types and till now most of the athletes had to rely on different diets.

While visiting National Institute of Sports in Patiala, Rijiju noticed that different athletes depend on diets as per the budget.
The sports minister said that since diet is an important part of a sportsperson and it plays a main role for his development, he had decided to make amends in the diet budget.
He further said that the athletes will now get diet as recommended by their coaches and nutritionists.

Informing that each athlete irrespective of their age and experience will get an equal and healthy diet, Rijiju claimed that the parity in diet budget will benefit 12500 athletes.
Rijiju met athletes from various disciplines like boxing, volleyball, athletics at the sports institute.
He expressed his best wishes to the sportspersons for their careers and also promised them to provide them with all requisite facilities for their training.
He also assured that all the kitchens of SAI training centres will be developed so that the athletes can get a healthy and balanced diet regularly.
