Novelist Tulika Saikia

Renowned Assam novelist Tulika Saikia breathed her last at 3 am on Monday.

A resident of Golaghat, Tulika was awarded the prestigious ‘Munin Barkataki Literary Award’ in the year 2014 for her novel Sarikhal Gokahanir Tej.

The writer who has been suffering from kidney ailment for a long time has unfortunately succumbed to her illness and left for heavenly abode.

Tulika has richly contributed to the world of Assamese literature by authoring a number of books.

However, many of her literary works are still left unpublished.

Born in 1977, Tulika worked as a teacher at Kushal Konwar Balya Bhawan.

The renowned writer is survived by husband Tanuj Tamuli and her daughter.

The writer’s untimely death will go down as a great loss to the literature community of Assam.
