Simmering tension prevailed along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur on Friday following the recovery of a bullet-riddled body of an Indian resident, according to police sources.
Police on Friday recovered the body of one Mohammad Kheruddin, aged around 20 and a resident of ward no 5 Muslim Nagar of Moreh, the border town of Manipur from along the international border.

Local residents have confirmed that the deceased was a daily wage labourer. He along with another friend had gone for fishing along the border on Wednesday last.
However, the friend of the deceased had returned to his residence whereas the deceased had gone missing.
Notably, the elder brother of the deceased had also gone missing around one and half years ago after he went for fishing along the Indo-Myanmar border.

His whereabouts is not known till date.
On hearing of the recovery of the body, police rushed to retrieve it.
Officials said the body had been taken to Imphal for post mortem. So far no underground outfit has claimed responsibility for the killing.
Earlier on Thursday the decomposed body of a vehicle driver from Assam was also found in Manipur.
Some unidentified miscreants hired his taxi for visiting a village in Manipur. He went missing and later his decomposed body was recovered.
A few months back a woman porter was gunned down in broad daylight at Moreh.
Police are yet to apprehend the culprits involved in the killing.
Meanwhile, State Governor Najma Heptulla in her address in the Assembly on the first day of the on-going Budget Session on Friday last said vigil along Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur has been intensified to check influx of foreigners, drug peddlers and illegal arms traffickers.
Earlier on Thursday, Manipur Police nabbed three Rohingya women and an alleged human trafficker while trying to sneak into the state from Assam.
The trafficker tried to enter Manipur’s Jiribam district by saying that the women were Bengalis from Assam. However, police said that they could not speak Bengali.
Police said they had intelligence report that some of the Rohingyas may try to sneak into Jiribam. Police had also dismantled over 10 bamboo bridges constructed at night by some persons across the Jiri River.
