Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday digitally unveiled the foundation stone of BSF accommodation at the Integrated Check Post in Agartala.

Tripura transport and tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLA Krishnadhan Das, Commandant of 120 Battalion of BSF Ratnesh Kumar, ICP manager Debasish Nandi and hundreds of troopers and locals were present during the programme.

The proposed sheds, which will be able to accommodate two companies of BSF consisting of 243 troopers, will cost Rs 23 crore and is targeted to be completed by July 2020.

The gathering maintained a minute of silence to pay respect to the Pulwama martyrs of the recent suicide terrorist attack on CRPF.

It may be mentioned that union home minister Rajnath Singh launched on Wednesday 28 major infrastructure projects of the Central Armed Police Forces (CRPF) and other central police organisations costing nearly Rs 1,900 crore and spread over 17 states.

The 28 major infrastructure projects inaugurated by union home minister Rajnath Singh belonged to the CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB, besides the Delhi Police and other central police organisations such as the Land Ports Authority of India, the NDRF and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory.

The projects launched by the union home minister, involving 71 non-residential buildings, 5,283 residential quarters and 34 barracks, constructed at a total cost of Rs 1,895.28 crore, are spread across 17 states — Assam, Kerala, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
