Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will chair the 67th Plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong on Monday.
The plenary will be held at the State Convention Centre in Shillong at 2 pm.
The 67th Plenary of the North Eastern Council will also be attended by Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, Jitendra Singh, and members of the NEC.
The two-day Plenary, which will conclude on Tuesday, will have various presentations on issues related to all round development of the northeastern region.
Some of the major issues to be discussed include finding ways and means to complete long-pending projects of the NEC in a specific time frame, transformation of the 14 aspirational districts/Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA- 1 & 2) in NER, Strengthening Livelihood Programmes in NE Region, Water Resources Management in NER, Catchment Area Treatment in NER through afforestation, Doubling Farmers’ Income by 2022 in NER, Road Connectivity in NER, ‘POSHAN ABHIYAAN’, ‘AYUSHMAN BHARAT’, Security related matters pertaining to North Eastern States etc.
The Plenary will also discuss continuation of NEC Schemes till March, 2020 as approved by the Union Cabinet in March 2018.
