The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Friday cancelled four trains connecting Assam’s Barak Valley and Tripura after incessant rains for the past few days made the tracks unsuitable for train movement.

NF Railway’s chief public relations officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma said this on Friday.

Sharma also said railway track has been affected at km 110/4-5 in between Jatinga Lumpur-New Harangajao station in Lumding-Badarpur hill section.

“The settlement occurred at about 9-30 am today making it unsuitable for train movement. The repairing work has already started and it will take more than 8 hours,” he said.

Sharma said that while the 13173 up Sealdah-Agartala Kanchanjunjha Express, which arrived Lumding station at 9-25 am, has been short-terminated and will remain cancelled between Lumding and Agartala.

The 13176 Silchar-Sealdah Kanchanjunjha Express, scheduled to leave Silchar on Friday, will remain cancelled, he said.

“Similarly, the 55615 up Guwahati-Silchar passenger train, which arrived at New Haflong station today, has been short-terminated and will remain cancel between New Haflong and Silchar,” he said.

Further, he said, the today’s 55616 up Silchar-Guwahati passenger train, which arrived at Chandranathpur station at 9-30 am from Silchar, has been short-terminated and will return back to Silchar.

The CPRO said that the NFR authority has made provision for adequate drinking water for all passengers of short-terminated trains at respective stations.

Announcements are also being made to make passenger aware about cancellations and short terminations.
