The newly-appointed president of the Congress, Rahul Gandhi, will arrive in Nagaland to address an election rally in the poll-bound State after January 30, 2018.

It may be mentioned that the Election Commission of India has already announced poll dates for the State Assembly elections in three Northeastern States including Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland. While Tripura will go to polls on February 18, 2018 polls in Meghalaya and Nagaland will be held on February 27, 2018.

As per media reports, it has been confirmed that the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has already approached the Dimapur district administration seeking permission to use the Dimapur District Sports Council stadium for the election rally where the Congress chief will deliver his speech.

It may be mentioned that along with other political parties, the Congress is also making all sorts of efforts to come out victorious in Nagaland.

According to media reports, as preparations have been going on for the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee was informed that the stadium could be used by the Committee for organizing the rally only after January 26. However, the media report quoting NPCC sources stated that though Rahul Gandhi’s Nagaland visit has been confirmed, but the exact date of his arrival is yet to be finalised.
