The CID team in Dhubri. Northeast Now

A team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) wing of Assam Police on Saturday arrived in Dhubri for investigation into the case of question paper leak of recruitment examination for vacant posts in the Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department held on May 20, 2018 across the State.

The CID team, led by Inspector Bhubneshwar Deka and Sub-Inspector Prashanta Goswami started their investigation and recorded the statements of principals, invigilators of the examination centres besides the the candidates, who were expelled from the examination for using unfair means.

The investigation team was first arrived at the Bidyapara Boys Higher Secondary School of Dhubri town and recorded the statements of the school principal, invigilators and other persons concerned who were engaged during the examination.

Earlier, Dhubri Police arrested two girls – Rupali Saha and Sabira Khatun – from the examination centre at Bidyapara Boys Higher Secondary School in Dhubri for allegedly leaking the question paper through WhatsApp.

The team then went to Gauripur Police Station and visited at the PC Institute of Gauripur and recorded the statements of the school authority. At this centre, two students were expelled for using mobile phone during examination.

The team thereafter visited Rangamati college located at Panbari, 20 km away from Dhubri district headquarters.

At this centre, one student was expelled for using the Bluetooth during the examination.

The CID team also recovered the said Bluetooth from the principal of the college which was still in his possession.

Inspector Bhubneshwar Deka, who is leading the investigation team, said that during primary investigation, a number of irregularities during the examination have been detected but he refused to divulge all about the findings before the media.

State Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ordered a CID inquiry into the matter after getting information of numerous anomalies in the State level examination conducted to fill up vacant posts in P&RD department.

The CID team also lodged a case bearing no 18/2018 after getting the nod from the State Chief Minister.
