Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, will inaugurate the five-day Chandubi Festival tomorrow, at Chandubi.
The festival is being organized for the past few years to popularize the famous Chandubi Beel and its adjoining forests to attract tourists. The organizers also want to showcase the rich art and culture of the tribes of Assam, especially the Rabha tribe.
Noted actor and director of the National School of Drama, Delhi, Pabitra Rabha will formally open the Chand Sadagar Memorial Stage which has been constructed from traditional bamboo, cane and straw.
Some of the highlights of the festival would be the traditional food, a cultural procession, a symposium on rural tourism, various cultural programmes like Rabha folk dance, Bogejari Nritya and a bonfire on the closing day.
