Former Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma on Tuesday said the statement of Tripura Congress president Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma (where he has taken his name) must be related to specific problems in Tripura.
Debbarma, who tendered his resignation on September 16 as the president of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), stirred a controversy on Tuesday accusing AICC general secretary Luizinho Faleiro of trying to dislodge top Congress leaders in the Northeast, including Mukul Sangma.

On Tuesday the morning, Debbarma officially declared about his resignation as Congress’ Tripura president and also gave up all the primary membership of the party.
Debbarma, talking to Northeast Now, said, “Some people sitting in BJP tried to control the Congress in Tripura and general secretary Luizinho Faleiro is listing them and acting as they want.”
Debbarma in his resignation letter to Faleiro stated: “Several of us are aware of your repeated attempts to dislodge many leaders from the northeast, including the former CM of Meghalaya Mukul Sangma from the post of CLP leader.”
In the letter, Debbarma also said former PCC president of Manipur TN Haokip was not even informed about his removal when he was protesting at Jantar Mantar against the Citizenship Amendment Bill before the Lok Sabha elections.
“The same happened when you (Faleiro) replaced Birajit Sinha and appointed me (as president of TPCC),” he said.
