Mohendro Rapsang, the newly elected Indian National Congress (INC) legislator from West Shillong constituency has written to the State Home Minister urging the Conrad Sangma Government to initiate necessary steps in series of violent incidents taking place in his constituency after the Assembly elections.
Rapsang in his letter to the Home Minister stated that a series of violent incidents had been taking place in the constituency since March 3 last, the day when the Assembly election results were declared.
He alleged that anti-social elements were going on rampage and indulging in series of crimes such as arson, vandalism and throwing of petrol bombs.
Rapsang said that on March 2, a motor cycle was burnt down near Persara School and again on March 8, five private cars were vandalized in Upper Mawprem.
Again on March 10, four petrol bombs were thrown at residential houses in Upper Mawprem and recently on March 17, a motor cycle was burnt down at Kyrbom in Mawprem.
Expressing serious concern over the incidents of violence, Rapsang said that necessary FIRs had already been filed with the police station, but to no avail.
