Three more persons, suspected to be Jihadis, have been arrested by police in Hojai district.
While one Riyazuddin Bhuyan has been arrested from Kasua, two others – Jainal Ahmed and Baharul Islam – have been arrested from Jamunamukh in Hojai.
With the arrest of these three suspected Jihadis, police have arrested so far seven people from Assam for having nexus with terrorist outfit, Hizbul Mujaheedin.

Earlier, Hizbul Mujahideen operative Qamar-uz-Zaman was arrested by Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Following arrest of Zaman, who hails from Hojai’s Jamunamukh, three of his associates – Shahnewas Alom, Omar Farooq and Saidul Alom – were arrested by Assam police recently.

An ATS team from UP has also arrived at Lanka Police Station to investigate into the case.
According to information, Zaman, who planned to expand the network of Hizbul Mujaheedin in Assam, stayed in Riyazuddin’s house at Bandura Aanti in Kasua when he visited the State last month.
Meanwhile, police have been interrogating Saiful Islam, elder brother of Qamar-uz-Zaman, at Lanka Police Station in Hojai district.
On the other hand, Omar Farooq, a suspected Hizbul Mujaheedin linkman, who was arrested by Guwahati police from Byrnihat on the outskirts of the city, has been interrogated at Doboka Police Station.
Besides, Saidul Alom, a resident of Lanka in Hojai, has been interrogated at Hojai PS.
Shahnewas Alom, who was arrested on Thursday, hails from Balirampathar village under Nilbagan Police Station.
Zaman was arrested on September 13 last. He had been missing since 2017.
Omar Farooq, who hails from Holmara in Hojai district and worked as a carousel operator with Ananda Mela, was arrested during an operation at 5 pm on September 15 last.
