The ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) MLAs in Nagaland resolved to stand firm behind the pre and post-poll alliance of the PDA under the leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio.
The resolution was taken at a joint meeting of the PDA MLAs and the PDA coordination committee held at the State Banquet hall in Kohima on Friday evening.
Adopting a six-point resolution, the meeting unanimously resolved that the PDA was committed to providing stability and pursuing the progressive developmental goals of the NDA government under the “visionary leadership” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It agreed to hold a full-fledged cabinet meeting in aspirational Kiphire district as part of the PDA government’s endeavour to take governance and administration to all corners of the state in a manner that is inclusive and where all citizens and stakeholders participate in the developmental aspirations of Nagaland and its people.
The legislators also appreciated the numerous contributions of state governments, organisations and individuals for relief and rehabilitation and towards the chief minister’s relief fund during and after the natural calamities that had occurred in different parts of Nagaland in kind and in prayer support.
The meet condoled the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying he was a towering personality in the history of the country who had made significant contributions and sacrifices in the nation-building process.
The meeting further lauded all citizens of the state for positively responding to the appeal of the state government for mass social work and cleanliness drive in the aftermath of the unprecedented monsoon rains and calamities that had impacted the state. It appealed to the citizens to continue to pursue the goals of a ‘Clean and Green Nagaland’.
The PDA consists of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, BJP, JD (U), National People’s Party and an Independent MLA. It has 34 MLAs in the 60-member Nagaland Assembly.
