Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday said that more than 300 metric tons of queen pineapples have been exported this year.
While speaking at a workshop on Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana at Agartala in Tripura, Deb said that the queen pineapples have been exported to many states of India and also to neighbouring Bangladesh.

Deb also added that the BJP government has been instrumental in developing the local industries of the state in addition to developing entrepreneurship.
Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Rameswar Teli and many other eminent dignitaries were present in the workshop.
Teli added that the northeastern region of the country has seen much development after the BJP government came to power in 2014.
He also said that Tripura is filled with different varieties of fruits which can be exported to other countries and has a great potential for development of trade.
He also said that the development of food processing industries in the country will lead to more employment generation.

Last year, 30 MT of the fruit was exported to Dubai and Doha and this year Bangladesh has been added to the list along with local hubs in Assam, West Bengal and Delhi.
President Ram Nath Kovind has declared queen pineapple as the state fruit of Tripura in June 2018.
The 4th CII Pineapple Festival was recently held in Tripura. The festival emphasized on branding the ‘Queen’ and ‘Kew’ variety of pineapples the State which are considered as one of the finest in taste and sweetness.
The Queen pineapple has got GI certification from the central government.
