Agartala: In a tragic incident late Sunday night, a severe collision between a Bolero goods-laden truck and a lorry resulted in the death of one labourer and left nine others with serious injuries.
The accident occurred at approximately 11 PM near Charilam Motor Stand in the Sepahijala District. According to police reports, the labourers were returning home after finishing work when their vehicle, a Bolero goods-laden truck, collided with a lorry.
“The impact was catastrophic, killing one labourer instantly and causing severe injuries to nine others. The injured labourers were initially treated at Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital before being transferred to GB Pant Hospital for further treatment,” a police officer stated.
The deceased has been identified as Jahangir Mia, who died at the scene.
The injured labourers are Farooq Miah, Dulal Saha, Deepak Shil, Milon Miah, Subal Miah, Suhail Miah, Abdul Miah, Ripon Miah, and Nasir Miah.
Upon hearing the news, Sushanta Deb, the ruling MLA of Bishalgarh, rushed to the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital.
His swift response facilitated the timely transfer of the injured to Agartala GBP Hospital.
Meanwhile, Jahangir Mia’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The driver responsible for the collision fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the individual responsible for this tragic incident.
