The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Friday seized a consignment of 30 kg of ganja from the possession of a man in Guwahati Railway Station.

The consignment was seized during a routine check at platform number 3 of the railway station at 7.40 am on Friday morning.

The arrested man who was found to be in possession with the ganja has been identified as a 19-year-old named Rupan Miya.

Miya hails from a village in West Tripura district.

According to the police, Miya was planning to secretly carry away the ganja consignment to Tripura.

The police seized the ganja consignment when Miya was waiting at the platform for a Tripura bound train.

Meanwhile, the police have taken Miya into custody and interrogation is on.

The railway police had also seized huge consignment of ganja earlier this month.

A consignment of seven kg ganja estimated to be around Rs 50000 had been seized from the possession of a man this month in Guwahati Railway Station.

The arrested man has been identified as one Biraj Kishore Kumar and aged around 26 years and hailing from Vaishali in Bihar.
