During a joint operation carried out by the Kohima Battalion of the Assam Rifles and police, a cadre of the Kitovi-Neopak faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-KN) has been apprehended from Themazie colony.

Informing about the operation, the Assam Rifles in its Twitter handle stated, “Kohima Battalion conducted an operation along with police representative in Themazie colony and apprehend one NSCN (KN) cadre who was identified as Neingumelie, rank – Rajupiyu. Four extortion slips of NSCN(KN) were also recovered.”
It may be mentioned the Assam Rifles troops apprehended one self-styled (SS) brigadier and two cadres of NSCN (KN) along with arms and ammunition last month.
According to a release issued by the PRO of the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) last month, informed that based on specific input about the movement of NSCN (KN) cadre from Dimapur to Zunheboto, the Medziphema battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) launched an operation alongwith representative of NIA in general area Zubza under Kohima district on January 23, 2017.

During the search at the Mobile vehicle Check Post, troops of Assam rifles apprehended one SS brigadier of NSCN (KN) from a Nagaland registered vehicle along with two cadres of NSCN (KN), a media report stated.
