Assam Rifles personnel along with police on Sunday launched operations in the deep jungles and destroyed two hideouts.

Two suspected NSCN (I-M) hideouts have been busted by Assam Rifles in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district.

Based on specific inputs, Assam Rifles personnel along with police on Sunday launched operations in the deep jungles and destroyed two hideouts, one at Jongrum and the other at Laibong near the Indo-Myanmar border, said a defence PRO based in Kohima.

The troops also recovered huge cache of arms including AK series rifle, ammunition and other war like stores from these hideouts, he said.

According to reports, these camps were used as temporary transit camp by NSCN cadres.

“Security forces are conducting sustained operations against the insurgent groups active in the region providing the much needed sigh of relief and confidence to the locals,” said the PRO.

The operation was part of the ongoing crackdown by Army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps on insurgent organisations active in South Arunachal Pradesh, he added.
