Interacting with media in Shillong on Tuesday, NPP state president, W R Kharlukhi asserted that the post of advisor to the Government of Meghalaya was a honour bestowed on a seasoned politician like Lapang.

The question of fielding Lapang in the Lok Sabha elections is out of question, Kharluki said.

He also refuted murmurs that differences are simmering among the alliance partners over choosing consensus candidate for the parliamentary elections.

Kharluki also said that the alliance is yet to decide on the Lok Sabha poll candidates and the same will be deliberated at the MDA coordination committee meeting.

A meeting in this regard is scheduled to be held after the return of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma from Paris.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh are in Paris to participate at SIAL (Salon International de l’alimentation) Paris 2018, one of world’s biggest food innovation exhibitions.
