Meghalaya Chief Minister and the national president of National People’s Party (NPP), Conrad K Sangma is in Aizawl, the State capital of Mizoram, to launch the party in the State.

The NPP national president arrived in Aizawl on Friday.

On the eve of the launch of the party, Conrad Sangma decided to interact with the different sections of people in Aizawl to understand the concerns and issues of the poll-bound State.

Informing this on his Twitter handle on Friday, Conrad Sangma tweeted: “On the eve of the launch of NPP, I decided to interact with different sections of the society to understand concerns and issues of Mizoram.”

Expressing his confidence that their party (NPP) would be able to raise the voice and concerns of the people, Conrad Sangma also tweeted: “I am confident that NPP will be able to raise the voice and concerns of the people of Mizoram.”

It may be mentioned that the ruling party in Meghalaya, NPP, which has already presence in several States in the Northeast, has planned to put all efforts to get Congress legislators in poll-bound Mizoram to join the party, besides getting other parties including the Mizo National Front (MNF) work together to form the Government after the Assembly polls.

The term of the 40-member Mizoram Legislative Assembly constituted on December 16, 2013 will expire on December 15 this year.

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister and NPP leader Prestone Tynsong told reporters recently that he had visited poll-bound Mizoram a few days ago and met some Congress leaders there, besides leaders of other political parties to impress upon them the need to work together.
