The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Saturday called for a joint front of secular parties for a stable government in the State.
The NPP also urged the people to out rightly reject the BJP-NDPP combine which it termed as ‘onslaught’ of Hindutva forces in the State.

The NPCC further termed the ensuing Assembly elections as just not a battle between different political parties, but a ‘clash’ of ideologies that will redefine the political history of Nagaland.
In a statement issued to the media on Saturday, the NPCC maintained that while the Congress ‘stood by the ideology and principles of secularism and liberal democracy, BJP represents Hindutva forces ably supported by alliance partners like NDPP’.
The press statement further warned the voters that the upcoming elections is the right time to choose between the two before it’s too late to make choices.

The Nagaland unit of the Congress further alleged that the BJP and its alliance partner NDPP are hell bound on compromising the ‘rights of the people and the way of life of the Nagas’.
The NPCC further said BJP’s ‘relentless pursuit’ of holding Assembly elections in Nagaland by ‘disregarding’ the wishes and aspirations of the people would remain a ‘big blot’ in the history of the Nagas.
“Our people need a peaceful and stable secular government and not the BJP’s brand of disruptive communal politics that is inviting more trouble to our already troubled land,” the statement added.
Charging BJP, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, of having no solution for the Nagas, the party said their promise of finding settlement within 18 months of coming to power had now stretched to 45 months and that the Nagas would be now fed with another promise of final settlement after 2019 parliamentary elections.
The NPCC further pointed out that the BJP is fast losing ground across the country and the recent by-election in Rajasthan is a brute testimony to it.
