Northeast United FC have sacked their Spanish head coach Gerard Nus citing contrast in the team’s current tactics and the club’s philosophy and vision.
“NorthEast United Football Club announces with immediate effect the departure of head coach Gerard Nus,” statement from the Northeast United FC read.

The announcement of “departure of head coach Gerard Nus” came just hours after the 1-1 draw against Bengaluru FC on Tuesday.
“The club has decided to part ways with the Spanish National after taking into consideration a contrast in the team’s current tactics and the club’s philosophy and vision,” the statement from the Northeast United FC further read.
Meanwhile, Khalid Jamil has been appointed as the interim head coach of Northeast United FC.

Northeast United FC decided to “part ways” with Gerard Nus after just 11 matches in the ongoing 2020-21 season of the Indian Super League (ISL).

Northeast United’s last win came against SC East Bengal on December 5 last year which it had won 2-0.
It has been now seven winless games on a trot for highlanders.
“The Club would like to thank Mr Nus for his hard work and commitment during his time at NorthEast United and wish him the best for all his future endeavours,” the Northeast United FC further said in its statement.

Nus happens to be the second manager to be let go this season, after Bengaluru FC had parted ways with Carles Cuadrat last week.
