Northeast United FC has appointed a new assistant coach, Eelco Schattorie to their team. The Dutch UEFA Pro Coaching licence holder has extensively worked in Asia. Eelco will be working closely with our advisor Avram Grant
This appointment comes after they appointed former Chelsea coach Avram Grant as the Technical Advisor, who will also double as a stand-in coach for the remaining matches of this season’s Indian Super League (ISL).
With just a solitary win from their seven matches this season, the Highlanders are placed at a disappointing ninth on the table with their chances of making it into the top four looking bleak.
The John Abraham co-owned club are the only ISL team alongside FC Pune City to have not qualified for the play-offs in the last three years.
The club appointed Joao de Deus Pires in July last year with hopes of changing their fortunes this season. However, NorthEast United have scored just twice in seven games despite the coach having claimed that the top scorer in the ISL will be from his club. Close on the heels of Kerala Blaster, the NorthEast United FC is set to become the second Indian Super League (ISL) franchisee to have sacked their coach midway into the season
