As panic spread across Tripura about human organ racket removing the kidneys of 11-year old boy before murdering him on Tuesday in Bhumihin colony of Simna police station, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday has clarified that the entire episode of removing the kidney is baseless and aimed at maligning the image of the new government.

Deb, who is also holding the home portfolio, in reply to the issue raised by opposition MLA Tapan Chakraborty in the House about the news, said autopsy report has suggested that no part of the body of the murdered boy in Mohanpur area has been removed. The chief minister suspected this as the work of an organised group to defame the new government and divert the attention from anti-drug and anti-crime operations launched by police.

The Chief Minister said, “Nobody can accept the brutal manner in which the 11-year-old boy was murdered and we all members and Ministers of the House are sorry for that. At a time when the government has started operations against the drug and land mafias, these forces (mafias) throughout the state are trying to divert the attention of the government by committing such crimes. But this government is committed to its mission of making Tripura drug and crime-free state.”

Deb said, “The post-mortem report from GB hospital is with me and according to it the kidney, liver and all body parts have been found intact. I thank my health minister, who is not a doctor but a lawyer, and had yesterday categorically said in TV that it was not possible to remove the kidney from the body. So the apprehension that an organised team and specialist are there in the state to remove the kidney is baseless. Moreover, a minimum age of 18 years is required for kidney transplant and the boy was just 11 years old. We are sorry and I have instructed the DG and IG law and order to visit the spot.”

Suspecting a conspiracy behind which a group is active the Chief Minister said that on Tuesday night police were attacked. Based on video recording one person has been arrested and interrogation is still on. He also assured police will find the culprits and put them behind the bars very soon.
