No nominations were filed on the second of filing of nominations for the February 27 Nagaland Assembly elections, sources in State Election Department said on Thursday.
Nagaland Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar issued the gazette notification for the State Assembly election on Wednesday. Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Sinha said nominations can be filed immediately after issuance of the gazette notification.

Meanwhile, the State Government, in a notification, designated all officers and ranks of Nagaland Police from DGP down to constables, including Home Guards, as election related officials for the purpose of Section 28A of the Representation of People Act 1951, with effect from the date of notification for election on Wednesday till the completion of the general election to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, 2018, an official release said on Thursday.
The police officials who are involved in any way in election related arrangements and perform duties in connection with the conduct of the election are by law officers of Election Commission, being deemed to be on deputation to it, and are subject to its control, superintendence and discipline. Therefore, they are answerable to the Election Commission for any acts of commission or omission on their part while performing any election related duties, the release stated.
