In an exemplary move, the newly appointed Chief Justice of India (CJI), Assam’s son of the soil, Ranjan Gogoi has devised a new ‘no leave’ formula on working days for judges in a bid to tackle pendency of cases.

A Times of India report cited that Gogoi soon after taking oath as the CJI had hinted of a new regime to ease the burden of over three crore pending the Supreme Court, high courts and trial courts.

Gogoi further, according to the report has asked chief justices to withdraw judicial work from errant members of the court, asking the high court chief justices to inform him about judges defying the new work order.

Gogoi has also vowed to deal with them with iron fists individually.

Gogoi on Thursday has specifically instructed that no high court judge or subordinate judicial officer can go on leave on working leave except on emergencies.
