A vote on account will be presented in the State Legislative Assembly in Mizoram starting on March 12, 2019.
In an interview on Monday, Mizoram Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo said they will not have a full budget session rather a vote on account in the second session of the Eighth Mizoram Legislative Assembly.
Lalrinliana Sailo cited the upcoming Lok Sabha polls as the cause of opting for a vote on account rather than a full budget.
The session which will commence from March 12, 2019 will continue for 9 days with the Governor’s address and motion of thanks on the Governor’s address being given on the first day.
An obituary reference will be held on March 13 in remembrance of F Manghnuna, former MLA, who has passed away.
The Speaker said no bills have been received till date, however, they are expecting bills as well as the presentation of reports and paper lay.
The presentation of supplementary demands for the year 2018-19 and vote on account will be discussed on March 19, 2019, according to the provisional calendar.
The most awaited bill in the upcoming session is the legislation of prohibition of alcohol which was one of the major poll agendas in the 2018 Assembly elections.
On February 18, 2019, Mizoram Excise And Narcotics minister Dr. K Beichhua on Monday announced that the government is drafting a liquor prohibition bill to be introduced in this session.
The session will conclude on March 20, 2019.
