The Bodo Writers’ Academy, a literary society of the Bodo writers, critics and poets, has chosen Hadungwra Mochahary of Kokrajhar, a child writer, for the Nimathi Mochahary Child Writer Award, 2018.
The award has been conferred on Hadungwra for his book in Bodo language titled ‘Undwi Lirgirini Raithai’ this year.
The award was announced during an executive meeting of the Bodo Writers Academy held at Bodofa Nwgwr of Kokrakhar on Sunday. The meeting was held under the presidenship of Rajen Basumatary, the President of the Bodo Writers’ Academy.
As per information, Hadungwra Mochahary wrote his book ‘Undwi Lirgirini Bijab’ in 2009, ‘Undwi Lirgirini Bithorai’ in 2015 and ‘Undwi Lirgirini Raithai’ in 2017.
Now, child writer Hadungwra is appearing in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2018 being conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) at Kokrajhar.
“The award will be given away every year to a child writer who is below 16 age but not passed the HSLC examination,” said Dr Ranen Chandra Mochahary, General Secretary, Bodo Writers’ Academy.
The award which carries a certificate along with Rs 25,000 will be presented to the child writer in a literary programme during the National Tribal Book Festival and Bodoland Book Fair which will be held from March 10 to March 20 at Kokrajhar.
Hadungwra Mochahary is the son of renowned Bodo writer Dr Subungsha Mochary and Dharitri Mochahary of Mijing Nwgwr in Kokrajhar, said Khrwmshar Basumatary, media co-ordinator, National Tribal Book Festival Celebration Committee, Kokrajhar.
