The Mancha also stated that they have decided to block the construction of the four-laning of the National Highway from Jamugurihat to Gohpur in undivided Sonitpur district.
The leaders of the Mancha alleged that the authority has released only a tiny amount as compensation to many affected people against land acquisition.
They also said, “We will continue our protest until we get adequate compensation. The National Highway Authority of India has neglected us while they have given full compensation to the people of Dibrugarh district, who also lost their land due to acquisition for four-laning.”
Locals also alleged that during monsoon, the subways along the National Highway become muddy and are inundated due to improper constriction work for which the daily activities of the common people get affected.
