The New Karimganj railway station, which has been newly constructed as part of the gauge-conversion project converting the old meter gauge (MG) railway tracks into broad gauge (BG) from Badarpur to Agartala, has been readied with all basic facilities for the railway passengers.
According to information, the newly-constructed railway station is much more spacious with sufficient capacity to handle more trains in comparison to the old railway station. The new railway station has been constructed to cope with the future requirements of the people of Karimganj and its surrounding areas. The people of Karimganj and its nearby areas are hopeful that they would be largely benefited once this railway station starts operating. It is also expected that the new railway station will bring in development to the entire Karimganj district.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) authorities have decided to introduce stoppages for long-distance mail/express trains at New Karimganj Station from January 24, 2018, informed sources. The NFR authorities have also fixed timings for arrival and departure of trains at New Karimganj Station.
As per the railway schedule, the15659 Sealdah-Agartala Kanchanjungha Express will arrive at the New Karimganj Station at 3-10 pm and will depart at 3-12 pm on Monday and Friday while the 15660 Agartala-Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express will arrive at the station at 10-10 am and will depart the station at 10-12 am on Tuesday and Saturday.
On the other hand, the 14019 Agartala-Anand Vihar Tripura Sundari Express will arrive at 6-25 pm and will depart the station at 6-27 on Thursday; the 14020 Anand Vihar-Agartala Tripura Sundari Expresswill arrive at 6-45 pm and will depart at 6-47 pm on Wednesday; the 20501 Agartala-Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express will arrive at 7-58 pm and will depart at 8-00 pm on Wednesday; the 20502 Anand Vihar – Agartala Rajdhani Express will arrive at 9-40 am and will depart at 9-42 am on Friday. Meanwhile, the 12504 Agartala-Bangalore Cantonment Humsafar Express will arrive at the New Karimganj Railway Station at 9-00 am and will depart the station at 9-02 am on Tuesday while the Bangalore Cantonment – Agartala Humsafar Express will arrive the station at 11-28 pm and will depart at 11-30 pm on Sunday.
