NERIM Group of Institutions, Guwahati was established on February 16, 1992, by NERIM Educational Society with a view to promote specialized professional education in Northeast India.
NERIM is affiliated to three premier universities of the region including Dibrugarh University, Gauhati University, and Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU), which are respected all over the country.
Dibrugarh and Gauhati University were established by the Assam government in 1965 and 1948 respectively.

ASTU is a state university established in 2010 under the Assam Science and Technology University Act, 2009.
These three universities have been playing a dynamic role in spearheading some of the very important course of studies in the growing fields of professionalism.
Apart from it, NERIM is also a partner institute of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the only nodal centre of All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi, in the entire Northeast region.
Besides, the institution has set up a subsidiary institution with the name NIRD (NERIM institute for Research & Development) with due permission from the Assam government, and under the affiliation of ASTU for conducting Ph.D programme in management and Computer Science from 2014.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the National Council for Teacher Training (NCTE), and the Bar Council of India (BCI) have duly approved the different programmes conducted at NERIM.
NERIM Group of Institutions has always been active in contributing skilled professionals and competent leaders as human resource to the society.
“Individual student counseling, guidance and mentoring, personality & communication skill development sessions, public speaking, presentations, spiritual lessons & practices, and many more such practices form a regular routine as add-ons to the academic lessons here,” said NERIM.
