Former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana passed away in New Delhi on Saturday after a prolonged illness.

Condolences are pouring in from the Chief Ministers, Governors and ministers of the northeastern States at the demise of former Delhi Chief Minister Khurana.

Khurana was 82 at the time of his demise.

He is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters. Late Khurana’s another son died last month.

A veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Khurana was the Delhi Chief Minister from 1993 to 1996. He served as the Governor of Rajasthan in 2004.

As per family sources, he breathed his last at around 11 pm at his Kirti Nagar residence in the national capital.

He also served as the Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism Minister in the late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Government.

Expressing her deep condolence at the demise of Madan Lal Khurana, Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla stated on her Twitter handle on Sunday: “Saddened by the death of Shri Madan Lal Khurana Ji -former Chief Minister of Delhi. My condolences to family members.”

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has also expressed his heartfelt condolences on the death of former Delhi CM Madan Lal Khurana.  Chief Minister Sonowal tweeted:
