North East Academy, Mangaldai and Don Bosco High School, Mangaldai  have moved into next round of the first Sachindra Kr Saharia memorial district level inter school U-18 limited overs cricket tournament .

In a match played  at the Mangaldai stadium on Tuesday North East Academy  beat Mangaldai Vidyapith by a margin of 22 runs . Electing to bat after correctly calling the coin, the North East Academy boys scored one hundred runs losing all their wickets with more than eleven overs to spare. Chanakya Sarma top scored with 13 runs while Rishan Dewan and Ramin Khan chipped in with 11 runs each.

Chasing the modest target Vidyapith boys never looked comfortable and were bundled out with only 78 on the board in just 12.4 overs. For the North East, Chanakya Sarma ripped through the Vidyapith innings with a figure of 4 for 25 while Meer Aman Azad bagged 2 for 8.

In the first match on Monday, Don Bosco High School, Mangaldai got the better of Mangaldai Maharshi Vidya Mandir by 13 runs. Setting a victory target of 91 runs in the stipulated 30 overs, the Donbosco boys restricted their opponents to 77 in 22.2 overs.

Earlier the tournament was formally inaugurated by retired District Sports Officer Nasiruddin Ahmed in presence of other office bearers of the sports body.

The tournament is being organized by Mangaldai Sports Association with the participation of  ten educational institutions across Darrang district.
