In order to nab active drug peddlers in Namsai district, the houses of Chow Chantana Khen and Chow Binoy Khen of Jenglai village under Piyong circle in Namsai district were raided on Friday.

During the operation the police were able to recover suspected contraband substances along with cash, articles used for consuming these contrabands, light weighing machines used to weigh drugs, small plastic packets used for packaging drugs, etc.

The raid was carried out by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sepraj Perme, Officer-in-Charge of Namsai Police Station, CB Rai, Sub Inspector M Lalyang, L/SI N Khen, civil police and IRBN personnel along with the help of women activists from Women Welfare Society Namsai and Nodal Officer, Narcotics Cell Namsai, Olik Koyu.

Cases have been registered at Namsai Police Station under various sections of NDPS Act  namely (1) Nms PS case No.41/2018 u/s 17(a)/21(b) NDPS act and (2) Nms PS case No.40/2018 u/s 17(a)/21(b)/25/27(a) of NDPS Act.

It may be recalled that the police in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh arrested one drug peddler, for the third time within a fortnight, along with 50 grams of brown sugar on June 24, 2017.

On June 14 last, a police team from Tezu arrested two motorcycle-borne drug peddlers and recovered 26 grams of brown sugar from their possession, at Tebang bridge point near 32 Mile, Danglat. Tezu Police arrested a woman drug peddler and seized about 10 grams of brown sugar from her at Tezu.
