The Dimapur district administration has imposed restriction on movement of all vehicles from Patkai Bridge to Kukidolong with effect from March 3, 2020 to April 3, 2020.

In order to carry out the road construction work smoothly and speedily along the Patkai Bridge-Kukidolong route, vehicular movement is restricted from 8.30 pm to 5am daily for the one-month period.

Dimapur deputy commissioner Anoop Khinchi on Saturday said the restriction was being imposed as a preventive measure and to avoid loss of life property and other injuries.

He also expressed regret over the restriction of movement on National Highway  39.

He also informed that the alternative route from Dimapur to Kohima and vice versa is available for light vehicles via 7th Mile – New DC office – Shokhuvi – Razaphe – Mhaikam – Pimla – Mhainamtsi – Jharnapani/Medziphema.

On November 2019, the state Congress president K Therie had urged Nagaland Governor R N Ravi to constitute a coordination committee, comprising representatives of all departments concerned and contractors, to repair the serviceable roads in the State.

He had said the state roads have been cut off for years, creating intolerable inconveniences to the house owners, colonies, traders and travellers, who are plagued by air pollution, accidents and traffic jams.

Therie also claimed that the pitiable roads are also causing price rise and slowdown of economy.
