Nagaland Police arrested two NSCN-IM cadre on charges of kidnapping a businessman from Dimapur.

According to a release issued by PRO, Dimapur police, the two arrested belonged to NSCN-IM and have been identified as Toki Achumi (23) and Khetoho Jakhalu (23), both presently attached to Khekuto Jakhalu, Secretary, Crime Cell (LO), NSCN-IM.

The release said East Police Station of Dimapur received information that a businessman was abducted from his shop at MP Road in Dimapur by some unknown miscreants suspected to be underground cadres at 2 pm on January 19.

Dimapur police verified the spot and after verification revealed that one Subash Kumar Jain (45), proprietor of a garment shop Amar Agency was reportedly missing from his shop at around 12.30 pm and no one could provide any information about the victim or the miscreants.

Later, on checking CCTV footage in few locations, one suspected vehicle was identified with registration number AS-01-9353 (Maruti Swift Car). Accordingly the vehicle particulars were passed to various agencies under Dimapur Commissionerate who were on surveillance duty in various markets and places.

While conducting search and enquiry, at about 5 pm on Saturday, police spotted the vehicle near Aoyimiti village junction along with two NSCN-IM cadres.

The two accused were arrested and produced at East Police Station along with seized vehicle.

The release said the arrested accused stated that they had already released the victim, Subash Kumar Jain, at Purana Bazar area, and voluntarily accepted their involvement in the crime. In this connection a case has been registered at East PS and further investigation is on.
