Four persons were arrested by the security forces in Nagaland for smuggling opium seeds worth Rs 1.44 crore.

A senior official on Saturday informed that the persons were arrested after the forces were informed about their movement with the seized opium seeds.

“A team of Assam Rifle, based on specific inputs, impounded two trucks carrying 120 bags of Vietnamese Poppy near Piphema on National Highway-29,” the official informed.

The arrested persons and the seized contraband were handed over to custom preventive division officials.
