Being aware of the devastating flood in Nagaland, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju will visit flood and landslides affected areas of the state on Sunday.
A government press communiqué said that Rijiju will be accompanied by a team of officers from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
The team will visit the flood and landslides affected areas of Dimapur and Kohima and review the search, rescue and relief measures taken by the state government and other central government agencies with the chief minister of the state government, chief secretary and other senior officers of the State administration.
Various parts of Nagaland are reported to have been affected by heavy rains and rain induced calamities including landslides at various places.
A team of NDRF consisting of 35 rescuers with essential rescue equipment are already deployed in Nagaland to assist the State administration in the relief and rescue operation as well as distribution of essential relief material and to provide medical support to affected people at the time of emergency.
Two Air Force helicopters have also been deployed in Nagaland for assisting state administration in lifting and dropping of essential commodities.
