The Nagaland government has reduced the price of petrol and other motor spirits by Rs 2.22 and diesel by 0.17 paise with effect from midnight today.
In a notification on Monday, additional chief secretary and finance commissioner Sentiyanger Imchen said the rate of tax on petrol and other motor spirit has been reduced to Rs 16.04 from the existing Rs 18.26 per litre or to 25 percent from the existing 29.80 percent, whichever is higher.

The rate of tax on diesel has been slashed to Rs 10.51 per litre from the existing Rs 11.08 per litre or to 16.50 percent from 17.50 percent per litre, whichever is higher.
Petrol price crossed Rs 92 per litre and diesel price soared to over Rs 83 per litre in Dimapur. In Kohima, petrol crossed Rs 93 mark per litre while diesel price inched closer to Rs 84 per litre.
