The National Socialist Council of Nagaland- Isak-Muivah faction (NSCN-IM) on Saturday reiterated its demand for a separate Naga national flag and Constitution.

The reaction came a day after Nagaland Governor and chief interlocutor for the peace talks R N Ravi has ruled out a separate flag and Constitution for the Nagas as demanded by the NSCN-IM.

Ravi also accused NSCN-IM of delaying the final agreement of the Naga political issue.

Nagaland Governor R N Ravi in a statement had stated a mutually agreed draft comprehensive settlement, including all the substantive issues and competencies, is ready for inking the final agreement.

On the other hand, NSCN-IM on Saturday alleged the Government of India is creating fear psychosis in Nagalim by deploying thousands of armed forces personnel.

President of NSCN-IM, Q Tuccu, in a statement stated that in keeping with the universal principle of democracy on sovereignty, the Government of India has recognized the sovereignty of the Nagas stating that sovereignty of the Nagas is with the Naga people.

However, the Nagas and the Indians will not be totally separated, he stated.

The two people will live together on the basis of the principle of co-existence of the two entities with shared-sovereignty, the statement further read.

“After coming so close to the point of conclusion, we are facing hurdles on the issues of Naga flag and constitution,” Q Tuccu said in the statement.

“The Indian authorities who deal with the talks are also well informed that the Indo-Naga political solution without Naga flag and constitution is not conclusive and that will create a room for future headache. We are looking for a lasting solution,” it added.
