DIMAPUR: Nagaland University signed an MoU with IIT-Guwahati for administrative and faculty support, internship and short-term training programmes, and guidance in infrastructure development of the varsity.

The MoU was signed by Nagaland University vice chancellor Prof Jagadish K Patnaik and IIT-Guwahati director Prof Devendra Jalihal at IIT-Guwahati in the presence of faculty and officers of both the institutes on Monday (May 27), Nagaland University PRO Peter Ki said, in a release, on Tuesday (May 28).

The agreement bears significance in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which emphasises on fostering partnerships and improving the quality of higher education in India, Ki said.

The release said it also signifies a step towards promoting academic exchange, research collaborations, and sharing of resources between the two institutions.

Through such partnerships, the NEP 2020 aims to enhance academic quality, promote interdisciplinary research, and facilitate the holistic development of students.

Additionally, the release said such initiatives reflect the NEP’s vision of creating a robust and integrated educational ecosystem that encourages innovation, diversity, and excellence.

It added that such collaborations between universities and premier institutes play a crucial role in realising the goals set forth by the NEP 2020 and advancing the educational landscape in India.
