Two more civilians were killed and several others injured in Assam Rifles firing at Oting in Nagaland’s Mon district on Sunday.
The security personnel opened fire when angry locals attacked an Assam Rifles camp in Mon over the killing of 13 civilians on Saturday evening.
With the killing of these two protesters, the number of civilians killed in the Assam Rifles firing in the Mon district increased to 15.
Two Assam Rifles jawans were also killed on Saturday when angry locals attacked the security personnel.
As per reports, irate protesters set an Assam rifles camp on fire following which security personnel resorted to indiscriminate firing resulting in the death of two civilians.
The Assam Rifles on Saturday had fired at a truck killing six coal miners who were on the way back home from work.
Soon after, angry locals surrounded the security forces. Police sources said five villagers were killed and six injured as the forces opened fire at the mob.
Meanwhile, Ao Senden (Ao HoHo), the apex organization of the Ao Nagas called a 6-hour Mokokchung district bandh from 6 am to 12 pm on Monday in protest against the killing of the civilians.
