Dimapur: Nagaland will host an open recruitment rally for the Indian Air Force‘s Agniveervayu scheme in September, marking first such rally in the state in a decade.

An official statement on Monday said the decision was taken at a meeting convened under the chairmanship of the special secretary (home) in Kohima recently.

Officials from the Home Department and other key departments discussed preparations for the recruitment rally, which is expected to provide an opportunity for youth from Nagaland to join the Indian Air Force.

Following deliberations, it was decided that the rally would tentatively be held at the Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre in Chumoukedima, which already has most of the infrastructure and logistical facilities required for the recruitment process.

The meeting also finalised department-wise responsibilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.

The Police Headquarters (PHQ) has been tasked with appointing a nodal officer from the 1st Nagaland Armed Police, Chumoukedima, to coordinate with Indian Air Force authorities and oversee administrative and logistical arrangements at the venue.

The Health and Family Welfare Department will deploy a medical team led by two doctors, along with supporting staff and an ambulance, for the duration of the rally.

The School Education Department will provide four teachers through the District Education Officer, Chumoukedima, to assist in the verification and authentication of candidates’ documents.

The Home Department will coordinate with the PHQ to arrange transportation facilities, while the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) has been assigned the task of publicising the recruitment drive through print, electronic, digital and social media platforms across the state.

It was also decided that the Indian Air Force would issue the recruitment notification, including detailed eligibility criteria and qualification requirements, at least 45 days before the rally to ensure wider awareness and participation among aspiring candidates.
