The State Level Committee on People’s Plan Campaign-2021 held a meeting in preparation of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for the year 2022-23 at the secretariat conference hall in Kohima on Tuesday.

Addressing the meeting, Nagaland chief secretary J Alam said the idea behind the campaign is to come up with a comprehensive plan based on a participatory process involving full convergence with schemes of all the line departments.

Assuring that the programme will be very beneficial for the villages, Alam said consistency and support from all line departments will be an essential element for the success of the campaign.

He directed all line departments to nominate an officer each to coordinate with the nodal department.

Delivering the introductory address, the commissioner and secretary, Rural Development, Neposo Theluo said the gram panchayats have been mandated for the preparation of GPDP for economic development and social justice.

He said the panchayats have a significant role to play in the effective and efficient implementation of flagship schemes on subjects of national importance for the transformation of rural India.

Elaborating on the People’s Plan Campaign, he said it is an effective strategy for ensuring the preparation of GPDP in a campaign mode which will be rolled out as “Sabki Yojana Sabka Vikas” from October 2 till January 31 next year.

During the campaign, structured gram sabha meetings will be held for preparing the GPDP for the next financial year 2022-23.

It was also informed that there will be a 1-day orientation training for line department nodal officers on “People’s Plan Campaign-2021” at Rural Development Department’s conference hall on September 10.
